Debbie Long for State Representative
Long-term Commitment. Long-term Leadership. Long-term Vision.
My family’s roots run deep, and eight generations have called the Claremore area home. I’m grateful for that legacy and for a community that still feels like the place it did when I was a kid… walking downtown on a summer afternoon, waving to familiar faces, and knowing I belonged. My husband of 28 years, Eric, and our daughters and their families are proud to have made our homes here.
For twenty years, I served as the Executive Director of Leadership Rogers County - a volunteer role. I did so because I wanted to give back to this community that I love. My favorite work was opening doors for future leaders. Designing class schedules and connecting participants with local and state leaders, non-profits, schools, and businesses was essential. This training enabled LRC classes, year after year, to discover where their talents would be best suited, it promoted the building of relationships, and enabled them to step into roles where they could make a difference.
While Mayor of Claremore, an EF-3 tornado hit the night of May 25th, 2024. It changed my life and the lives of so many in our community. Setting aside my Mayor’s hat and with the help of so many, I worked to coordinate volunteers to clean up debris and tarp houses, delivered meals and water, found temporary housing when possible, and facilitated recovery efforts by matching roofers and tree removal teams with homes and businesses. As a citizen and alongside April and Justin Daniels, we co- founded Claremore and Rogers County Disaster Assistance (CRCDA) in order to get our community’s tornado victims the help they desperately needed. We are still working on long-term recovery by obtaining resources and raising gap funding. We have made it a priority for months to stay in contact with victims. Hundreds of households have received repairs, supplies, and guidance. I believe this proves that compassion plus coordination, as well as neighbors who won’t quit, get families and individuals on the path to restoration.
Leadership, to me, is service. Decades of hands-on service and community leadership – from being a Claremore business owner for over 35 years, to serving Leadership Rogers County, to being Mayor of Claremore, to providing crisis response and long-term recovery efforts after the 2024 tornado – have given me the skills, judgement, and proven commitment that are necessary in order to bring people together and get results. I would be honored to continue that work for Oklahoma as your State Representative! Promise to progress… I will focus on solutions and transparent partnerships, and will commit to helping families move from crisis to stability.

Debbie's Long-Term Vision
Education Made Great
Parental choice matters. Public education matters. Students thrive when parents, state legislators, and school districts work together. I’m not an expert, but I know our public education system is struggling, and I am committed to pursuing steady and positive changes so that every student in Oklahoma has the opportunity to succeed.

Disaster Relief: Bridging the Gap
When disaster strikes, FEMA and insurance don’t always cover what families and individuals need. I believe part of the solution is to form a state disaster assistance bridge fund that supplements the immediate needs of victims as well as supports long-term recovery groups who come alongside victims and their families, tarps to rebuilds. Helping Oklahomans affected by disaster make steps toward wholeness and restoration is an integral part of my platform!
Help to Care at Home
Many families want to care for loved ones at home. Even three to four hours a day of in-home help can mean the difference between coping and crisis. Yet, it remains financially out of reach for many. I will advocate for a caregiver resource hub, flexible respite vouchers, and limited in-home health support. This is personal to me. Trustworthy support honors dignity and it strengthens family stability.

Core Values
As a Conservative, I am deeply committed to supporting legislation that:
-
Defends the Second Amendment
-
Protects the unborn
-
Upholds legal, secure immigration
-
Champions opportunity for small businesses
-
Reduces government overreach
-
Advocates for a balanced budget
Like President Trump, I believe in doing what we can to make America and Oklahoma the best it can be.
